The Muscogee (Creek) Nation wanted to build their flagship Head Start facility near their capitol in Okmulgee, OK. They hired TriArch to design a rhythm of cultural learning through the architecture itself. From using earth berms to reflect the ancient mounds that the tribe is known for, to using gentle curves throughout the reflect the spiritual iconography of the tribe, TriArch was able to create a facility that helps to teach the children of the tribe about their past, present, and future. At 27,000 sqft, the building hosts 4 large Head Start classrooms, 4 large early Head Start classrooms, Kitchen/cafeteria, a large indoor playground as well as separate outdoor playgrounds, a large meeting room/storm shelter, and administration and support areas. The indoor playground is a reflection of the Tribal Towns that the tribe is historically comprised of.
