Cornerstone Church was having a baby boom. Their children’s attendance numbers were growing at a rate exceeding 20% every year. They were land-locked in a leased building and they desperately needed help with envisioning how to solve their growth problem with proper facilities. They hired TriArch to master plan their existing facility along with a few other properties. Through the master plan, they were able to become confident that their existing facility could meet their needs over the years with some clever design elements--which enabled them to purchase the property so that they could renovate and expand.
One of the design challenges was taking an existing 16-sided rotunda auditorium and couple that with a new and expanded education building. The solution came in their mission. Since they are called to share the gospel first in their neighborhoods, their cities, then to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), a concentric grid was conceived to radiate out from the existing rotunda. This allowed a vocabulary that reinforced their mission for spreading the gospel while integrating the new buildings into the old.
The building consists of a new children’s and kid’s education building, new administrative areas, expanded lobby, renovated auditorium, new youth area, and improved parking and landscaping. It also addresses the church’s desire to have open and engaging areas for fellowship both indoors and outdoors.
